merry christmas

To all of you who read this blog, thank you for your comments and your suggestions. For the past year, I have attempted to do two things:
(1) introduce myself through my writing, and
(2) to provide some of my thoughts on why I am moving to Mexico.

Sometimes they overlap. Often, they don't. But with each post, I try to share a little bit of who I am. Thank you for letting me to indulge myself.

But more than anything today, I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas.

There is a promise of peace that comes with this day that teaches us to love our God with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our mind, and with all of our strength. And, just as importantly, to love each other (friend and enemy) as we love ourselves. If we can, then truly the promise of peace will be ours.

Babs, Cairelle, Hollito, and AMM -- Thank you for your comments, but, most of all, for your companionship on this journey of life.

That is a beautiful picture. Yeah I've heard about all that snow. Wish I was there, part of my heart is there.... in Portland, Oregon... The other half is confused and aches.. but trying to find peace and acceptance. Your post is beautiful and thank you for sharing yourself. Thats what makes us real.

PVgirl -- great to hear from you. We are finally starting to thaw. I hope you find the peace you seek.

Merry Christmas Steve.
What a beautiful picture for today.
The red berries, the green foliage,
the white snow, the beautiful robin.
(robin, right?) Christmas at it's finest! Lots of love, Kristy in California. :-)

Steve Cotton said...

Kristy -- You are correct, it is a robin. I thought the colors would make a good Christmas combination. The symbolism of the robin seeking life in a storm was more than I could pass up.

Hi Steve - I like the robin but can do without the white stuff. Too many winters in Alberta behind me.
Have a great New Year.

Thanks, Howard. I was going to crop the photograph, but I decided the context was just as important as the bird. See you in a few months -- when I may miss a bit of the cold.

Merry Christmas Steve, may the new year bring you new travels, great adventure and peace.

Thanks, CC. I see your former land is whiter than what I am experiencing. Our snow is finally melting today.

A belated Felíz Navidad to you, señor. I am in Mexico City and relying on internet cafés. Better late than never.

Steve, that picture is stunning. I wish I'd taken it--but since I didn't, I'm glad it was you.

What you say in today's blog post is just as lovely as the photograph.

It's such a pleasure to know you, if, for now, only in this virtual way.

God bless,

Michael -- I hope you are enjoying your Christmas in the Big City. And it is never late to wish anyone a merry Christmas. I am one of those people who is not impressed with the "Keep Christ in Christmas" movement. I think that is one of the things wrong with Christianity. We want a tame baby that we can trap in the confines of one day and control him. Hmm. I think I feel another sermon coming on. Have a great new year.

Christina -- Thanks for the compliment. It was one of those odd circumstances. I looked out my computer room window between snow falls, and a small flock of robins appeared -- for no more than a few minutes. And then they were gone. In its own way, the equal of Juan Diego's cloak miracle.

Just wanted to say that I hope your Christmas was wonderful! I know it's a bit after the fact, but I wanted to leave you a note regardless :)

Thanks, Aighmeigh. Greetings are never late. Even though I had our family omnibus holiday dinner in early December, I had Christmas dinner with a fellow blogger. Tomorrow I have Christmas dinner with my Aunt Naomi. So, you can see, the season is long around my household. I hope your final days before your trip go well. God speed.
