This cold is really frustrating.
Usually Nyquil will do the trick and knock me out to stay in bed and allow my body to take the time it needs to fight off the virus.
But Nyquil has not come to my aid with this cold. I tossed and turned most of last night, and each turn resulted in another racking cough. And you do not want to know any more about productivity.
So, this morning, I drove to my doctor to discover I am one of many people with the same condition in town. She wrote a prescription for two drugs. But, before I left, she wanted to check my blood pressure.
I thought that was the least of my worries. But the readings were 110 over 95. She did not like that. Too close together.
As all good doctors do, she then checked my pulse. I drew to a pair with my systolic reading. Usually, it never gets higher than 80.
She grabbed my prescriptions, removed one of the drugs, and told me to come back tomorrow.
And I will.
There is nothing to be alarmed about. I will stop taking the Nyquil and take the one drug she gave. I already feel a bit better after taking a short nap.
But it is a rather awkward time to have guests in the house.

I thought I was doing better this evening, so I went to dinner with friends. Now I need to get back to doctor's orders of staying in bed.
There you have it - rest is hard found for you amigo. By the way - the word round here is the same: lots of sick people with coughs (few cover their mouths! - argh!)
Get well soon and BEFORE Friday - no pressure there.
Stay in bed and let your body recuperate.
Is that a photo of your medicine? Looks like an antibiotic, which does not work with a cold. Don't you just love getting sick just before a trip? I wish you a speedy recovery.
I will do my best.
I got out of bed for dinner with friends last night, and I having lunch with a fellow blogger today. Besides getting out of bed, I am foolishly sharing germs with people I kike.
Mcotton has the best advice. Heed it!
Yes. My mother usually knows best.
It is. For the throat infection that has accompanied the rest of this nonsense.
Red China is calling. Get well soon, amigo.
So why are you ignoring her advice?
I hope I recover sufficiently to get past the fever detector.
The continual conflict between knowing and doing. But I am writing this comment from my sick bed. Like a dutiful (but hacking) son.
Is there really a fever detector?
...lots of liquids and patience.. the body knows what it can do sometimes or NOT
Yup. Just as there are in Mexico. Infrared temperature monitors. Fortunately, my low grade fever is long gone. But the cough would be a dead giveaway.
I avoid anything with ephedrine as it can raise blood pressure so I stay away from decongestants and always read all labels . Now that my BP is within the normal range, I want to keep it that way! Hope your cold is better before you take that plane to China
You have to go for the blackberry brandy...I'm telling you it works!!...Pat
I believe that was my doctor's diagnosis, as well. And you know how obedient I am to authority.
No alcohol in this gullet. Well, except for the Nyquil.
Which you will be avoiding, right? right, you did say how obedient you now are!
To a fault. And I am almost always recovered.
