I will probably not post anything more for the next few days. I want to spend time with Jiggs.
The steroids are having no effect. He has gone from merely limping to now avoiding most movement. He manages to hobble outside to take care of dog functions, but he is more than willing to simply sleep on his couch. Even his food does not interest him.
If I do not manage to post before Tuesday, I would like to wish each of you a joyful 2008 -- and to thank you for your assistance on this journey.
Just wanted you to know that you and Mr Jiggs are in our thoughts as you go through this difficult time. We all are hoping for the best.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wayne, I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteLast night when he seemed at his worst, I took Jiggs outside before we went to bed. He insisted on going out the back gate as if we were going on our usual walk. Understandably, he just stood in the alley. It was a bit sad.
But, I guess Jiggs has been watching too many Frank Capra movies; he started off at a hobble pace on his usual walk. Within a half block, he was using his left leg -- a bit.
One thing I will say for him is he has spunk.
Wishing the best for you and your dog.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog today and enjoyed reading through it.
We made the move from Canada to Mexico about 2 yrs. ago and haven't regretted the move at all.
Good luck with all your decisions.

ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comments. I suspect that Jiggs is being a better soldier about this than I am.
If you have any suggestions to add based on the experience of your move, please let me know. At times, I feel as if I am flying all over the place.
It may feel like you are "all over the place"; but it sounds as if you are being very methodical and thinking things through carefully.
ReplyDeleteIf you'd care to read our blog, just click on my name and it will take you there. I have been blogging since before we left Canada.
Definately rent before buying, you will go through a "honeymoon phase", where everything is just "great", this will wear off and you will realise whether or not you can actually live in a place for the long term.
Good luck to you both.

ReplyDeleteYour blog looks great. I will take a closer look at it. Love the dog video.
My thoughts are with you. I have a golden retriever who is well and full of life. However, I have just had to put down my 16 year old kelpie cross 'Vince". I didn't think I could feel so upset. He was my companion through different phases of my life.

ReplyDeleteI really do appreciate your comment. This is the first dog I have had for his full life. Making the decision over life and death is much harder than I believed it would be. Jiggs appears to be on a sustainable plateau right now, but I know the day will end up coming soon. Whether it is days, weeks, or months, I intend to enjoy what little time I have left with him.
