last thing at night or first thing in the morning?

I came home from work the other day and decided to sit down and write a blog post. In mid-stroke, it occurred to me how odd the timing was. I almost never write in daylight. I am a night writer. Most often -- a late night writer.

That got me to thinking about my fellow bloggers. When do they do their best work?

And what a great time for a poll -- especially for those of you who would rather have your fingers cut off rather than read another commentary about the presidential election. It is to your right -- at the top of the column.

I will leave the poll up until Saturday at noon (Pacific daylight time).

  1. I usually post during my time outs. During cleaning house breaks, study breaks, outside garden breaks, cooking breaks, well just whenever. I voted and good idea.

  2. I post when I think of it, usually I post mid afternoon because that is when Husband is taking his siesta. I seldom post in the evening or at night, because I am usually doing other stuff then,

  3. I'm sure glad you included that last category or I wouldn't have been able to vote!

  4. I like write EARLY in the morning. But lately my schedule dictates otherwise. I write in the stuffy late afternoon hours as of late.

  6. Gloria -- I thought the poll would be a fun break -- and informative.

Theresa -- I envy Husband his siesta. But I will soon get to have as many as I like.

Wayne -- Who says I do not know this audience?

Laurie -- You are welcome for the link. I have been enjoying our church exchanges.

  7. Morning?? What's that?

Almost always late night for me although there are a few afternooners in there too.

  8. Oh, how about this confession. Anyone else ever changed the time posted on their blog? I've done it several times so it won't be so obvious how late I'm writing. Plus, I leave my blog on Pacific time so it always shows a couple hours earlier anyway. My mother may be dead but bits of her will never leave my brain. I'm always guilty about staying up so late and sleeping late.

  9. Jonna -- If I did not own a dog -- and if I did not have this pesky job -- I would not know anything about mornings. But I, too, have a confession. I will often write several posts and time them to publish at midnight. I suppose I could choose a more decent time. But there is something about my words crawling out of the crypt in the dead of the night.

  10. I usually write and post in the morning, but if it's a "biggun", I'll start it in the evening and finish (proof read and edit) in the morning to make sure my thoughts are clear.

Of course, with a three year old in the house sometimes it's "write while you can!" so it can vary. I've become accustomed to writing with Dora the Explorer cranked in the background, stops little fingers from banging on the keyboard or turning off the computer. ;-)

  11. I cannot imagine how you bloggers with children find time to write. I barely get things written living alone with my dog -- ignoring all of my other duties.
