when is a sunset a sunrise?

This is one of my favorite photographs of Melaque. The combination of the spectacular sunset with its gaudy colors -- for which this section of Mexico is famous -- and the shadowy surfers -- watching for the last wave of the day -- helps to remind me why I want to head south.

I may not know how to fully communicate. I may not even know how to successfully flush the toilet. But I know that every day will be another adventure.

I have been working on some interesting alternatives for my move. As soon as I have something to report, I will let you know. But I may not need to retire, after all, to experience the adventure.

  3. I HATE when you leave us hanging like that........
I agree the sunsets on the Pacific coasts are spectacular. And, the best part about enjoying them is that you know they'll be another one the next day.......

  4. Steve

For about the first 5 years We came down in the winter and worked in the summer, But each time we went back to work it became harder to get back in the groove If you could do that I think it would be the best way to start. The best of both worlds.

  7. Babs -- To get 'em comin' in the door, you gotta leave 'em wantin' more.

Anonymous -- I hope to work out a few details to solve the "back to work" syndrome.

John -- Not a word limit -- simply an attention deficit: mine.

Teresa -- Enjoy your dance. The only dance I am doing is the two-step to the door to hand out candy.

  9. Good post, Steve! I am reminded of the account of Jesus turning water into wine. He did this when the wedding was almost OVER. The best wine came at the end of the party. I tnink about my own adventures coming at mid-life as a parallel to this story. There are many NGOs that can use your expertise in Mexico. As far as Spanish, yesterday I directed a cabbie on the phone to my house in Spanish, despite the fact that street numbers and names are not widely used here. He understood my directions to turn here, find this building, go past such and such church, etc. And he was on time! Of course, the trip itself was cancelled but that's life sometimes. Keep looking for the sunrise, my friend!
