heavy on my mind

I am sitting in a German restaurant (Gustav's) at the Portland airport.

That sentence is pregnant with news from this four-week trip north.

The first is that eating fried potatoes from a German restaraunt is not bothering my conscience at all.  I have managed to gain enough weight over the past four weeks, I decided not to worry about what an odd breakfast would do to my once-slim Mexican-whittled chassis.

I will be in Melaque this afternoon.  Walking and a non-junk diet will get me back on track.

The past four weeks have been interesting.  Lunches and dinners with friends.  Long chats through the night.  Cool weather.  But, best of all, I had an audience for my impromptu performances.  I have been surprised at how much I miss that part of my life.

And that brings me to a big announcement.  But it is better told on a Monday or Tuesday.  And so it shall be.

For now, I am preparing for the warmer weather that Melaque will offer this weekend.

Well, ain´t you the little tease. Or, from what you say, the big tease.

I know what it is. You can´t take it anymore! Packing your belongings, jumping into the Ford and hightailing it back to Oregon. I´m sure of it.

It was a nice, long Mexican vacation. We´ll miss you.

i love german food. heck, one last hurrah after 4 weeks of eating to your heart's desire won't make any difference so i am glad you were able to enjoy that food, guilt free.

looking forward to your announcement ;-)

Happy belated birthday.

Where we've had quite enough already of "cooler" weather. As, we've heard, has most of Mexico, save your torrid little piece of heaven.

I'm surprised nobody else has posted. Or, maybe their responses just haven't cleared yet.

It's cruel to hang a taunt like that out there. I'm sure I'm thinking what eveybody else is. Can't wait to see if I'm right.

Mexico doesn't work for everyone. I remember Felipe writing that he would go back to the US if he could afford it - I am sure you can. That was a surprise - others deciding to go back or stay in the States is less of a surprise - and you?

Your anticipation cruelity is matched only by your erudite use of the English language. But then "We . . . anticipate what's to come, then ignore what's actually here." So I will simply enjoy, with you, your return home! Have a good flight!

Will Senor Algodon will be traveling Norte in the near future?...I'm not sure, it did cross my mind. Is it the pull of friends and family? Was it because of the heat of the coast during the past summer?
I'm going to disagree with the esteemed gentlemen Senor Zapata and Senor Calypso.
I think it's something else...then again, I've never been known for brains.

Well, guess I wasn't thinking what everybody else was. I had the notion that it might involve someone else.

No one else has mentioned what stuck out for me in your post...

"But, best of all, I had an audience for my impromptu performances. I have been surprised at how much I miss that part of my life."

Having been trapped by several people recently whose (boring) solo orations went on and on, I felt a jolt of unease when I read that. But maybe you are just taking a job performing onstage somewhere.

I have eaten at that Gustav's. The one in Beaverton - near Washington Square is better.

The last 4 weeks of Oregon weather have us ready to chuck everything and move to Mexico earlier than planned.

That may be Steve's announcement, but I would not bet the farm on it.
